Evolving Beharioral Strategies in Predators and Prey

چکیده
? Abstract. The predator/prey domain is utilized to conduct research in Distributed Artiicial Intelligence. Genetic Programming is used to evolve behavioral strategies for the predator agents. To further the utility of the predator strategies, the prey population is allowed to evolve at the same time. The expected competitive learning cycle did not surface. This failing is investigated, and a simple prey algorithm surfaces, which is consistently able to evade capture from the predator algorithms.

Evolving gene regulatory networks controlling foraging strategies of prey and predators in an artificial ecosystem
Co-evolution of predators and prey is an example of an evolutionary arms race, leading in nature to selective pressures in positive feedback. We introduce here an artificial life ecosystem in which such positive feedback can emerge. This ecosystem consists of a 2-dimensional liquid environment and animats controlled by evolving artificial gene regulatory networks encoded in linear genomes. The ...

The design and development of behavioral strategies to coordinate the actions of multiple agents is a central issue in multiagent systems research. We propose a novel approach of evolving, rather than handcrafting, behavioral strategies. The evolution scheme used is a variant of the Genetic Programming (GP) paradigm. As a proof of principle, we evolve behavioral strategies in the predator{prey ...

Despite games often being used as a testbed for new computational intelligence techniques, the majority of artificial intelligence in commercial games is scripted. This means that the computer agents are non-adaptive and often inherently exploitable because of it. In this paper, we describe a learning system designed for team strategy development in a real time multi-agent domain. We test our s...

Coevolution may be defined as an evolutionary change in a trait of one species in response to a change in a trait of a second species, followed by an evolutionary response by the second species to the changes in the first. Yet, more complex evolutionary relationships are known to occur, such as Batesian mimicry, where three or more separate species interact along their evolutionary history. Do ...
